With less than two weeks left to go until he drops his self-titled debut solo album on May 12, Harry Styles has decided to share another cut from the upcoming LP – and it’s (surprisingly) not the studio version of “Ever Since New York,” the song he debuted during last month’s Saturday Night Live performance.
Instead, it’s an entirely new number called “Sweet Creature,” which was written by Harry alongside Thomas Hull, with production by Grammy-winner Jeff Bhasker. Unlike the grand, stadium-anthem feel of lead single “Sign of the Times,” “Sweet Creature” sees Harry laying down his vocals on-top of a purely classic guitar-pop serenade that brings to mind the stuff of his good pal Ed Sheeran.
“Sweet creature, sweet creature/ Wherever I go, you bring me home/ Sweet creature, sweet creature/ When I run out of rope, you bring me home,” he croons alongside slow-drifting, acoustic guitar riffs. It’s very much guy who sings with guitar and has emotions, sorry Harry – still looking forward to to the album though!
