Noah Cyrus Lives In The Moment On Carefree Anthem, ‘Stay Together’!

Noah Cyrus is livin’ in the moment…

Late last year, the 17-year-old sister to Miley Cyrus launched her music career with her Labrinth-assisted debut single: “Make Me (Cry),” a very satisfying and impressive slow-drifting drowsy ballad that managed to peak at #46 on the Billboard Hot 100. Considering the song wasn’t necessarily radio-friendly, I think that’s a pretty decent first showing – any newcomer would kill to have their very first single reach that peak, even if they happen to be the younger sister to a global superstar.

For single #2 off of her upcoming RECORDS LLC debut album, NC-17, Noah‘s all on her own this time around and she’s turning things up a notch with: “Stay Together,” written by Noah herself alongside Emily Warren, Nicholas Gale and Britt Burton, with production by Hudson Mohawke (ANOHNI, Kanye West, A$AP Rocky, etc.) and Digital Farm Animals (Dua Lipa, Alex Newell, Galantis, etc.)

Stay Together” finds the young songstress putting her middle finger up for a round of booze in this carefree, radio-ready anthem. “I drank straight to my head/ I went outside to smoke a cigarette/ And I shattered my phone on the cement/ But I don’t give a fuck,” she nonchalantly declares above the song’s hazy, slow-churning beat, bringing to mind Rihanna‘s “Cheers” or even Miley‘s “We Can’t Stop.”

Oh, whoa-oh-oh/ Nothing lasts forever/ But wouldn’t it be nice to stay together for the night/ Whoa-oh-oh/ We can do whatever/ As long as we’re together then we’re gonna be alright,” sings sings on the immediately infectious hook. “Don’t leave, just wait/ You can tell your friends that you’re staying out late, singing/ Oh, whoa-oh-oh/ Nothing lasts forever/ But wouldn’t it be nice to stay together for the night.”

Filled to the brim with silly, young lyrics (“The Uber’s here, so now it’s time to leave/ Hey driver, could you pass the AUX to me?“) and drunken singalong chants with friends, “Stay Together” makes it clear that Noah isn’t as innocent as she leads on in real-life. Must run in the family! And you know what? I ain’t mad at it at all. I’m here for mini-Miley.

What do you guys think?

“Stay Together” is also available on Spotify and Apple Music!
