VÉRITÉ Announces Full-Length Debut ‘Somewhere In Between’, Drops The Beautifully Devastating ‘When You’re Gone’!

Unless you’re new around there parts, you already know that I’m all about VÉRITÉ! The rising independent singer-songstress has steadily built a following in the blogosphere thanks to the release of her spectacular EP’s over the last three years, from 2014’s Echo to 2015’s Sentiment and 2016’s Living.

She’s given us more to work with ever year – but now, the “Underdressed” singer is finally ready to take the next step with the announcement of her full-length debut album titled, Somewhere in Between! Set for release on June 23 via Kobalt Music Recordings, Somewhere in Between comes packed with 13 new songs, including the previously released single “Phase Me Out,” which has already earned over 3 million streams on Spotify.

To coincide with the long-awaited announcement, VÉRITÉ has debuted the second official single off of Somewhere in Between: “When You’re Gone,” a hypnotic slice of downtempo deliciousness all about a relationship that has been sucked dry of any life.

I don’t mind you leaving when the damage is done/ And I don’t mind, I feel the same when you’re gone,” she declares above a simple piano melody on the pre-chorus. But the song really elevates to the next level once the hard-hitting menacing chorus hits: “‘Cause what you lost, what you lost/ I don’t wanna be here anymore, anymore/ There’s no difference here from when you’re gone, when you’re gone/ I’m not crawling on my knees to keep you here,” she angrily cries out. Can someone get this woman a chair, some water and a fan, stat? She is going THROUGH IT!

But seriously, “When You’re Gone” is beyond beautifully devastating – it’s channels that heartbroken feeling to the hilt! A true stunner.

“‘When You’re Gone’ was written on a train ride to upstate New York. The first verse of lyrics developed from mumbles as I repeated the verse melody in my head for an hour,” VÉRITÉ said in a statement about the song. “Lyrically, I made the decision to be blunt and more transparent. The song is about being depressed, wanting to erase the feeling with external and realizing that it doesn’t work. I wanted the production to be a hard exterior shell to that vulnerability.”
