At this point, we have a pretty good idea of what we can except from Cashmere Cat‘s long-awaited debut album Wild Love, which to this very day has yet to receive a release date – it’s a big ol’ secret, apparently.
The Norwegian producer has so far released four tracks from Wild Love: the album’s title track featuring The Weeknd and Francis and the Lights, the Selena Gomez and Tony Lanez-assisted “Trust Nobody,” the hip-hop-driven “Throw Myself A Party” with Starrah, 2 Chainz and Tony Lanez, and “Love Incredible,” his infectious collaboration with Camila Cabello.
Cashmere Cat continues his collaborative streak with a fifth single, “9 (After Coachella)” featuring MØ and SOPHIE. Opening with a xylophone-like synth patch, Cashmere quickly eases into the background, providing a firm foundation for MØ‘s sweetly song vocals: “I like the way you’re body moving/ I like the way you spread confusion/ I like the way my heart is blooming/ On and on, you’ll never be mine,” she declares before a wild, electronic post-chorus drop comes surging into the speaks – clearly, SOPHIE‘s choice/influence. The track is a continuation of the producer’s increased lean into pop music, featuring a repetitive hook and heavy vocal presence, while at the same time maintaining his signature sound and surprising tricks within the production’s foundation.
Cashmere Cat’s latest “9 (After Coachella)” with MØ and SOPHIE is also available on Apple Music!
