The Chainsmokers & Coldplay Drop Their Much-Teased Collab, ‘Something Just Like This’!

It had been rumored for months that The Chainsmokers cooked something up in the studio with Coldplay. Now, following a surprise performance during today’s (February 22) 2017 BRIT Awards, the duo have released the full studio version of their much-teased collaboration!

Much like their previous singles, “Something Just Like This” sees the hit-making duo – Drew Taggart and Alex Pall – pairing their signature, delicate synth builds and future-bass production stylings with an infectious vocal top-line. Only this time around, it’s from a genuine superstar like Chris Martin as opposed to the newcomers we mostly see them pair themselves with.

She said “Where’d you wanna go?/ How much you wanna risk?/ I’m not looking for somebody/ With some superhuman gifts/ Some superhero/ Some fairytale bliss/ Just something I can turn to/ Somebody I can miss,” Chris croons before they seal the deal with a “Roses“/”Closer“-like post-chorus drop. “I want something just like this/ I want something just like this.”

It’s far from being new territory for both The Chainsmokers or Coldplay (see the Avicii-produced “A Sky Full Of Stars“), but “Something Just Like This” indeed works and should only continue to aid their dominance on pop radio. What do you guys think?

The Chainsmokers & Coldplay’s “Something Just Like This” is also available on Spotify and Apple Music!
