While the film – starring Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as The Beast – isn’t set to hit theaters until March 17, the original motion picture soundtrack is already set for release on March 10, and will feature two all-new original songs by Celine Dion and Josh Groban.
Alright then, before I get into this remake let me just state that I love Ariana and John in their own respective right. Y’all know this, I write about them all the damn time. The good news is that there has been no major changes to the childhood classic. The bad news is there has been no major changes to the childhood classic.
If you remember correctly, Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson sang the original “Beauty And The Beast” and scored not just one award, but three: Golden Globe, Oscar and Grammy.
Ariana and John‘s rendition, unfortunately, doesn’t quite hold up to the original, and isn’t necessarily the life-changing experience that I was expecting. The main problem is that it’s a little too faithful to Celine and Peabo‘s iconic version, which only makes it obvious that their replacements aren’t as vocally gifted as them. It’s just a fact.
With that said, the 2017 version isn’t anywhere near terrible. It’s perfectly fine, but just fine – I’m still pumped for the movie though!
