Martin Garrix is doing everything right these days, and I am very THANKFUL for it.
In the span of a year, the 20-year-old Dutch producer has teamed up with some major pop talent on a handful of tracks including stellar works with Usher (“Don’t Look Down“), John & Michel (“Now That I’ve Found You“), and BeBe Rexha on “In The Name Of Love,” which peaked to #24 on the Billboard Hot 100 and is now his second most successful single to date.
So it comes as no surprise that he’s fittingly enlisted the talents of rising English starlet Dua Lipa for his next single “Scared To Be Lonely,” as he preps the release of his long-awaited debut album via Sony Music.
“Scared To Be Lonely” is another winning, future bass-leaning collaboration from Martin that sees Dua laying down her passionate, full-bodied vocals over some emotive string and synth elements, all leading up to a powerful post-chorus drop – you know, as expected. But that’s not all, the lyrics are pure relatable gold too: “Is it just our bodies?/ Are we both losing our minds?/ Is the only reason you’re holding me tonight/ ‘Cause we’re scared to be lonely?“
Considering its universal message and its palatable appeal to the mainstream, it’s easy to assume that “Scared To Be Lonely” will become Martin‘s next powerhouse smash – similar to the success of “In The Name Of Love.” Also, Dua teaming up with Martin is only going to help propel her to worldwide popstar status and I’m 100% here for THAT – GET INTO IT!
