We can always count on the guys of The Knocks to give it to us good, really really good.
Following the release of “Heat” with X Ambassadors‘ Sam Nelson Harris back in October, the New York-based duo – B-Roc and JPatt – have announced that they’re set to hit the road once again on their 2017 Feel Good Feel Great Tour. The tour kicks off on February 3 and includes over 20 stops across North America, with guest appearances by Bipolar Sunshine, Gillian Moss, Lophiile, Mark Johns, and Skylar Spence.
On top of that, to get the feel-good vibes started correctly, The Knocks are also dropping a brand new EP titled Testify on the same date – February 3. “This EP was worked on all over the world and features some amazing artists we’ve been writing with,” the guys said in a statement. “It takes our inspiration from Soul & Gospel to a slightly darker place than the past and explores some new sounds for us. We are always trying to change it up and keep it interesting and are excited to share this with you guys.”
Our newest taste of the mini-collection comes in the form of “TROUBLE” featuring vocals from Absofacto. The track is a bouncy, disco-tinged number that brings the warmer sound of melodic house music into the equation, more so than we’ve heard on their more recent electro-pop affairs. “We originally wrote the song with Abso in NYC at our studio as a slow, piano ballad, at 90 bpm,” The Knocks told Billboard. “The idea was to write something that felt melancholy and classic. After we laid down the original idea, he left and we started experimenting with it — treating it like a sample — totally chopping it up and flipping it. This is the same way we approach some of our earlier songs like ‘Dancing With The DJ’ and ‘Make it Better,’ so it was cool to go back to that formula while making a sound that was new and fresh.”
