Song of the Week: Naughty Boy ‘Should’ve Been Me’ feat. Kyla & Popcaan!

This week’s Song of the Week comes from Naughty Boy!

The English producer built up his production rolodex from working with featured vocalists like Sam Smith and Emeli Sandé on his breakout 2013 debut Hotel Cabana. Since then, the UK-export has only delivered “Runnin’ (Lose It All)” — his acclaimed single with Beyoncé and Arrow Benjamin — lead by soul both in his work and the headliners, paired with an EP of remixes lead by Zinc and The Rooftop Boys. It’s definitely been a minute though…

On his latest called “Should’ve Been Me,” Naughty Boy enlists Popcaan and “One Dance” hit-maker Kyla to help bring his name back into the spotlight. The infectious cut plays with breezy, sweeping melodies and pronounced, plucking strings for a summery dancehall-influenced groove led by Kyla‘s ultra-catchy top line. “Should’ve Been Me” boasts very-current tropical appeal with seductive punctuations, and alludes to what will likely be an impressive sophomore effort from the talented UK pop crafter. Get into it!

Naughty Boy’s new single “Should’ve Been Me” is also available on iTunes and Spotify!
