In case you haven’t been paying attention, 2016 is the year of the Sean Paul revival.
Yes, the Jamaican King who has brought us countless reggae-infused smashes over the past decade – from 2002’s “Like Glue” and “Gimme The Light,” to 2005’s “We Be Burnin” and “Temperature,” to his 2014 collaborative breakout hit “Bailando” with Enrique Iglesias – is having his comeback moment.
After joining Sia and Clean Bandit on their chart-topping smashes “Cheap Thrills” and “Rockabye,” Sean is hoping to keep the momentum going with the premiere of two brand new tracks: “Tek Weh Yuh Heart” featuring “Luv” hit-maker Tory Lanez and “No Lie” featuring pop darling on-the-rise Dua Lipa, both of which serve as the official first releases from his brand new multi-album global deal with Island Records.
“Tek Weh Yuh Heart” sees Sean infusing his signature reggae sound with Tory‘s more urban-leaning beats, while “No Lie” feels like a more classic Sean single, vamped up with the right kind of 2016 production to help cater to radio. “Feel your eyes, they’re all over me/ Don’t be shy, take control of me/ Get the vibe it’s gonna be lit tonight/ No li-i-i-ie,” Dua sings on the hook.
The world all of a sudden feels safe again now that Sean is here to keep us dancing.
