Jhené Aiko Expresses Herself Fully On Freaky Return ‘Maniac’!

I’m a lowkey freak, you don’t know me yet,” Jhené Aiko declares on her latest release “Maniac“!

She’s back, alright! After finally unleashing her very first full-length offering Souled Out to critical acclaim in 2014, the “Spotless Mind” songstress returned earlier this year with the release of TWENTY88, an eight-track joint side-project launched with her beau Big Sean.

Today (November 17), Jhené‘s armed herself with an extra layer of self-confidence and some harder-hitting sounds on the fittingly titled “Maniac,” a buzz track – produced by The Fisticuffs and Detail – that she’s calling “just an art project.”

She’s coming harder, wilder and more uninhibited than ever before on “Maniac” — and it seems her f*cks are nowhere to be found: “Oh why, oh why I wait too long?/ Oh his **** is way too long/ I think I can take it all/ Oh why, oh why you actin’ scared?/ Pull that pull up like a chair/ Know you see me over here/ Have you ever f*cked with a maniac, maniac?/ You just made love to a maniac,” Jhené confesses on the tripping hip-hop production, which recalls the shape-shifting beats of BANKS and Tinashe, with a touch of FKA Twigs.

And the darling lines don’t just end there… How you like her now?

“I think that the older I get, the less afraid I am to express all the sides of myself. “Maniac” was such a fun beat. I wanted to make sure that I explored the fun, sexy side of myself,” Jhené told Billboard. “I also got in with Detail, who’s an amazing songwriter, and [Big] Sean — I love Big Sean — and they collaborated with me on this song. This song is just an art project. It’s one of many is what I’ll say. I’ve been working on a lot of things that I am going to share soon with everyone. For me, I don’t really think of it in the traditional sense where it’s like this is that. I just like to create pieces and share them as I create them but I’m definitely working on a lot of things that I’m excited to share with everybody. This song is just an art project.
