Bridgit Mendler Makes Unexpectedly Impressive Return, Preps ‘Nemesis’ EP For November 18!

Remember Bridgit Mendler? You know, Disney’s Good Luck Charlie star who ventured into a music career in 2012 with her debut album Hello, My Name Is…, including the super catchy lead single “Ready Or Not” – I quite liked that song if I’m being honest.

Since then, she’s wrapped up Good Luck Charlie, parted ways with Hollywood Records, signed with Big Black Records, starred in NBC’s Undateable for three seasons (until it got cancelled) and, well, she grew up – she’s 23 now to be exact. Memory refreshed?

This past September, Bridgit returned to the music side of things with the unexpectedly fantastic “Atlantis” featuring Kaiydo. The track sees the young songstress straying far away from her giddy, pop-rock roots for a super minimal, super hazy urban-meets-indie pop vibe, thus confirming that things are going to be a bit different this time around.

But while “Atlantis” is surely a great first offering from her upcoming EP Nemesis (due out on November 18), Bridgit‘s already back at it this week with another slice of exceptional experimental pop perfectly suited for your Thursday evening in the form of “Do You Miss Me At All.”

But do you miss me at all?/ Do you wonder what I’m up to?/ Without you,” she assures us across the tripping hip-hop beats, atmospheric sounds and whistle tones. “Do you miss me at all/ Do you wanna leave a message on my phone saying ‘I’m coming home’.” It’s fresh and undeniably impressive, I am truly SHOOK by this new chapter.

“I wrote ‘Do You Miss Me At All‘ while I was driving around Golden Gate Park in San Francisco, missing a boy. Missing someone can be a solitary feeling,” Bridgit said in a statement. “You don’t always know that the person on the other end feels the same way. This song was my way of coping with the radio silence!”

Really, this is the perfect sonic move for Bridgit: Rather than attempting to please a younger fan base with trend-hopping tunes, she’s swerved left and headed straight into her very own lane instead. I’m FULLY on board for Bridgit Mendler 2.0 – GET INTO IT!
