There is no questioning Lousia Johnson, because she’s feeling “so good, so good.”
Following the release of her summer anthem “Tears” with Clean Bandit,” which peaked at #5 on the UK Singles Chart, the 18-year-old season twelve X Factor UK winner has finally debuted her new single “So Good,” the proper lead single from her upcoming debut album.
The track – written and produced by Steve Mac, Chelcee Grimes and Ed Drewett – is a swaggering pop anthem that slowly builds into the speakers with cinematic strings and dramatic piano melodies. “Don’t say, don’t say I didn’t warn you/ Don’t say I didn’t warn you/ I live for the moment,” Louisa confesses before bursting into the the song’s monster of a chorus: “I wasn’t supposed to go out tonight/ I should be at home/ I got work at 9/ Shouldn’t be out here doing what I like/ But it feels so good, so good.”
“It was one of the first songs I recorded once I’d come off the show and finished the tour,” Louisa told Digital Spy. “It’s quite a dark song and a lot different to other stuff I’ve sung before. It’s also a lot different to what people may expect. It just clicked with me. I could relate to the words. It’s kind of like that thing in life where you do go out, get really drunk and regret it the next day, but you had such a good time.”
While “So Good” may not feel as instant of a smash as “Tears” did, it certainly packs a hard punch. The kind that doesn’t initially give you a bruise, but you definitely feel it later – you know what I mean?
