The brooding crooner just dropped “Closer,” his very first piece of new music since the release his fantastic 2014 self-titled EP – and this one is certainly no exception. The song – produced by Stuart Crichton and co-penned by Megan Cottone – feels and sounds like a smash, as Ferras‘ melodic, MJ-esque falsetto flutters in between hammering beats and an infectiously smooth ’80s-flavored, synth-pop production.
“Come closer/ I be like oh I’m going, going, going in/ And it begins,” he seductively croons before launching into arguably his most immediate chorus to date: “I just want you closer/ Your body and your mind/ I just need you closer/ All day long, all night/ And every day gets harder/ When I keep walking by/ I just want you closer/ I want you by my side.” Well jeez, someone is obviously crushin’ real hard. . .
But seriously, this is something sublime. Ferras already established his gorgeous tormented aesthetic with his 5-track EP, so it’s nice to finally hear him expand and showcase what he can do with a more “attainable” radio-ready gem. Get into it below!
