Danish pop diva MØ — yes, of massive worldwide Major Lazer “Lean On” fame — is releasing her anticipated sophomore LP later this year. If last year’s wildly addictive Diplo collaboration “Kamikaze” wasn’t enough for you (you’re crazy), then her just released follow-up “Final Song“ should be enough to convince you that we’re in for quite a brilliant treat with this new record.
The self-empowerment anthem comes hard with summery electro rhythms, finger snaps, a banger of a beat drop and one hell of a chanty chorus — but the lyrics are the real star here. “But when you’re gone the music goes/ I lose my rhythm, lose my soul/ So hear me out before you say the night is over/ I want you to know that we gotta, gotta carry on/ So don’t let this be our final song,” MØ cries out. It’s basically a more muscular, radio-friendly take on everything we’ve heard from her thus far. A TOTAL WINNER – but what else did you expect from a MNEK production?
“‘Final Song‘ is about reconnecting with your inner strength. With your inner glow, passion, spirit animal, whatever – the force that keeps us going and doing what we love,” MØ said in a statement. “I wrote it with MNEK and Noonie Bao – both of whom I adore – in Los Angeles earlier this year. We all need to feel empowered from within to be the best version of ourself, but it’s not always easy and that’s what inspired me to write these lyrics. When you’re united with your inner glow you can beat the fears and fly towards your dreams.”
