It’s been a while since we’ve had some proper new music from SZA, aside from her collaboration with Rihanna on ANTI standout “Consideration,” but the TDE songstress has been keeping busy cooking up her new project A, which she assures is slated to arrive later this year.
In the meantime, SZA has reunited with her frequent collaborator, producer Felix Snow (the young genius producer who helmed most of her See.SZA.Run. EP, as well as contributed to her S and Z EP’s) for something brand spanking new: “Lies,” a super infectious upbeat dance number that effortless showcases SZA‘s versatility. “Let’s pretend that we are more than passing ships in the night/ Let’s pretend like it’s just us/ Let’s pretend that we are strong enough to put up a fight/ Let’s pretend that it’s just us,” she pleads across a buoyant House groove.
“This song is just something where the style was something I wanted to hear her sing on,” Felix told Pigeons & Planes. “Her stuff is usually more chill and laid back and I wanted her to go in on something uptempo, because her voice sounds dope on it.”
“Lies” marks the first release from Felix‘s very own label’s forthcoming compilation project Nukes In The Kitchen, which is also due out later this year. I can’t even imagine what’s in store for us next if this is just our first taste. CONSIDER ME PUMPED!!
