P!nk Makes Brief Return On ‘Just Like Fire’ From ‘Alice Through The Looking Glass’!

Aside from creating Ellen‘s new theme song (“Today’s The Day“) and teaming with Canadian musician Dallas Green on her 2014 side project You+Me – which honestly, did anyone care?, P!nk has been pretty quiet on the music front.

Luckily (for you stans out there), she’s starting to get back out there… slowly but surely, as she quietly continues work on her anticipated seventh studio album. Yupp, P!nk has debuted “Just Like Fire,” a song written and produced with Max Martin and Shellback for the soundtrack of the forthcoming film Alice Through The Looking Glass, which stars Johnny Depp, Anne Hathaway and the late Alan Rickman (RIP).

The self-empowerment anthem is, perhaps as to be expected, chock full of statements about being yourself, running and flying free: “Just like fire, burning out the way/ If I can light the world up for just one day/ Watch this madness, colorful charade/ No one can be just like me any way,” she declares on the hook. “Just like magic, I’ll be flying free/ I’mma disappear when they come for me/ I kick that ceiling, what you gonna take?/ No one can be just like me any way/ Just like fire, fire. Although it really is a sweet song with a nice message, I expected a little more from P!nk and the guys (Max and Shellback) who brought us “U + Ur Hand,” “Who Knew,” “So What” and “Raise Your Glass.”

Oh well… *plays “Alice” by Avril Lavigne instead*

“Just Like Fire”(from Alice Through The Looking Glass) is available on iTunes / Apple Music now!

Didnt anyone care? Ouch. Debuted at 4 in the US. Plenty of people liked it. They NEVER wanted to promote the album, they did a few performances to get it out there, but they never wanted to push it as it was a passion project, a friend album. If it would have taken off outside of that they would have surely toured and did more with it.

The album is beautiful, nonetheless. This pales in comparison. Love the girl, but this is just a rehash of her work. So What and Raise Your Glass were the last upbeat singles that were good. However, much better than the Ellen theme song.
