Feeling stressed? overworked? oversexed? Let Skylar Grey put things into perspective for you.
Following the release of her folky little guitar-driven gem “Cannonball” with X Ambassadors last year, the talented singer-songwriter returns to us with “Moving Mountains,” a somber guitar-driven ballad about “finding your happiness” through all the craziness in your life. “For once, once in your life/ For once push your ambitions aside/ And instead of moving mountains/ Let the mountains move you,” she sings on the Mike Elizondo and Mark Batson-produced number. “For once, once in your life/ For once just stop to open your eyes/ And instead of moving mountains/ Let the mountains move you.”
“Most of my life I’ve let ambition get in the way of happiness- too focused on the future to enjoy the moment,” Skylar said in a statement. “Now living in Utah, I’ve realized the importance of taking the time to sit back and appreciate a mountain view. It’s amazing how just being present has the power to elevate your mood.”
It’s one of those songs I think any of us hard-working, career-driven folks can relate to. Like Skylar, I’m sure many or your aspirations in life are to be heard and successful but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice your happiness – It’s okay to just take a break y’all. LOVE YOURSELF!
