I haven’t properly written about Phoebe Ryan yet, although she’s been on my radar ever since the release of her debut Mine EP last year, which includes the shinning title track and a pretty amazing R. Kelly and Miguel mash-up. So, let me stop wasting time and properly introduce this heavenly voice that you’re going to want to keep your eyes on as we dive deeper into 2016.
The rising LA-based singer-songstress makes dreamy, propulsive electro-pop loaded with soaring hooks, stomping drums, atmospheric textures and ethereal undertones, seated somewhere alongside LIGHTS, Ellie Goulding, Lorde, BROODS, and Carly Rae Jepsen. They could make a super girl group and change the world with their awesomeness. “Mine” has accumulated over 10 Million global streams on Spotify and over 1 Million video views on YouTube and has received online love from Taylor Swift, Tove Lo and Chloe Grace Moretz. IMPRESSIVE!
With a current supporting act spot on Charlie Puth‘s Nine Track Mind Tour, the time for Phoebe to breakout seems to be now rather than later. And her just released new single, “Chronic,” is the perfect next step in the right direction to superstardom. The electro-pop tune is another dreamy uplifting anthem sees the green-haired songstress getting lost in some deep lust above an infectious, striding drum beat. “Oh so wonderful/ Kisses tasting like chronic/ Give me some cause I want it/ Like all the time/ And oh, it hits me good/ Yeah, it’s keeping me breathing/ Chasing after the feeling/ Like all the time,” she softly sings on the ear-worm of a hook.
That’s not all though, Phoebe is also the voice driving “Purple Eyes,” one of the many standouts included on The Knocks‘ debut studio album 55. So yeah, I think its safe to say that Phoebe is well on her way. She’s making all the right moves with all the right people – GET FAMILIAR!
