‘Not Above That’: D∆WN Continues To Impress On Latest ‘RED*emp*tion’ Cut!

DAWN2016 is the year of RED*emp*tion for D∆WN aka Dawn Richard!

Following Goldenheart, Blackheart and the Ester Dean-penned “Dance” last fall, the former Danity Kane member continues to impress with her latest Red Era release “Not Above That,” the second official single from RED*emp*tion, the third installment of her solo trilogy. And it’s flaming hot, hot!

The sultry tune – produced by Machinedrum and written by Richard and Maya Vik – is another glitchy, left-of-center electro-R&B musical explosion that puts D∆WN‘s ethereal vocals hand-in-hand with a skittering, shape-shifting beat. “If I beg for it, will you get me off?” she entices before cooing, “I want it all” above the disjointed, futuristic production. As with all things D∆WN, “Not Above That” is a bit of a mixed ball, but she certainly makes it work and The Red Era is turning out to be my favorite thus far. The singer-songstress has also announced a handful of spring tour dates, which includes two festival appearances – Check them out below!
