Song of the Week: Rationale ‘Something For Nothing’

This week’s Song of the Week comes from London-based rising star, Rationale!

With the release of his 2015 debut EP Fuel To The Fire, which included his glorious lead single “Fast Lane,” Rationale has already established himself as a promising talent, a certified “One To Watch,” if you will. But now, he’s looking to make even bigger moves with the release of his most upbeat cut to date, “Something For Nothing“!

The chilled-out track continues to demonstrate his powerful abilities as he lays down his soulful voice on top of a slick production that doesn’t stray too far away from the Zimbabwe-born singer-songwriter’s other, previous efforts. It’s similar and new all at once, the perfect way to kick off the new year!

“‘Something for Nothing‘ is a groove based disco tinged love song written about someone I know,” Rationale said. “I was listening to a lot of Prince and watching Marvin Gaye / Quincy Jones documentaries around the time I wrote it. I’m a big bass-line fan so when I wrote this one, I knew exactly where I wanted to take it.”
