Sia Indulges In Some ‘Cheap Thrills’ On ‘This Is Acting’s Rihanna-Reject!

So far, Sia‘s released her Adele-co-penned power ballad “Alive,” the empowering anthem “Bird Set Free” and the romantic “One Million Bullets” from her upcoming album This Is Acting. And now, we’ve arrived at “Cheap Thrills” – which was originally written for Rihanna and her upcoming album ANTi (coming never. . .).

Co-written with her frequent collaborator Greg Kurstin, “Cheap Thrills” is a super addictive downtempo gem that combines Sia‘s slick vocals with a infectious bounce and radiance that would sit comfortably next to Justin Bieber‘s “Sorry” and Major Lazer‘s “Lean On” – a major smash that Rihanna was offered but passed on. Notice a trend here? RiRi was not about to hop on this trend #phuckyotrends

“Baby I don’t need dollar bills to have fun tonight (I love cheap thrills)/ Baby I don’t need dollar bills to have fun tonight (I love cheap thrills),” she sings on top of the tropical-inspired pulse. “But I don’t need no money/ As long as I can feel the beat/ I don’t need no money/ As long as I keep dancing.” While I can totally hear RiRi putting her stamp all over this, it’s quite nice to hear Sia doing something different – WIN!
