Foxes is doing the damn thing y’all – and doing it quite well. The forever underrated UK darling has had a solid streak thus far in her All I Need album campaign, from her ’80s-flavored lead single “Body Talk” to the soaring “Feet Don’t Fail Me Now,” the addictive Dan Smith-assisted “Better Love, and the beautifully devastating “If You Leave Me Now.” But now, four promotional singles deep, the Glorious singer might have just hit us with one of her best yet: “Amazing.”
Co-penned with UK superstar John Newman, as well as a dream team of expert pop-crafters (Jonny Lattimer and Martin Brammer), Foxes stays true to her singer-songwriter sensibility while taking on a much bigger pop approach, supplying substantial lyrical depth between some infectious pulsations.
With plenty of chanty “Do what you want“-s and a folky, propulsive guitar-pop pulse, the gorgeous doe-eyed singer quickly drifts into dreamy electronic textures while finally letting herself break free from heartbreak: “See, I’ve got a wild heart and I can’t control it/ It keeps on letting me down/ I know, with you, tonight could be amazing/ Be amazing/ I’m scared, to death, still I stood here waiting/ Here waiting,” she declares.
“Do what you want/ Take a hold of me/ Do what you want,” she calls out across the post-chorus. “Cause my heart keeps saying/ Do what you want/ That you’re all I need, all I need.” Yeah, this album’s going to be amazing.
