‘Touch’: Pia Mia (Finally) Comes Through With A Proper Smash!

Okay, Pia Mia. I can fucks with you now. . .

What is a Pia Mia you ask? Here’s a quick re-cap: The Guam-born 19-year-old pop princess on the rise first started to make waves by going viral a little over two years ago with her infectious cover of Drake‘s “Hold On, We’re Going Hom.” Shortly after, Pia signed a deal with Interscope Records and dropped an EP titled The Gift last year, a solid 6-track set of R&B-leaning pop cuts that generated even more buzz for her while she continued to work on her full-length LP. The songs were fine and dandy – I’m into “On My Mind” and “Lost & Found” – but they really didn’t do much for me TBQH, and neither did this past summer’s “Do It Again,” her Rihanna B-side single with Chris Brown.

This week, I’ve had a change of heart thanks to her new single titled: “Touch

Produced by Stargate and Bloodpop (who also did Justin Bieber‘s latest “Sorry“), the smooth ‘n sexy dance number finds Pia seductively crooning her way into a calm island-tinged production, while hard-hitting pulsations luxuriously fill out the track, bringing Bieb‘s other hypnotizing Jack Ü pairing “Where Are Ü Now?” to mind. “Cause sometimes/ All I wanna do is be touched/ All I wanna do is be loved/ All I wanna do is be touched/ So touch me,” she sings on the infectious hook.

Pia‘s subtle approach combined with the exotic flavor of the track really make this one work. Without a doubt, her strongest to date. YOU GOT ME GURL!

Eh, this song is horribly weak and just isn’t catchy at all. “Do It Again” was much better and a stronger single.
