Earlier this summer, surviving Danity Kane members Aubrey O’Day and Shannon Bex announced that they were ditching the girl group model and relaunching as a duo named, Dumblonde! Contrary to everyone’s beliefs, their self-titled debut album, which was released last month – crafted alongside producers R8DIO, Dem Jointz and singer-songwriter Candice Pillay – proved to be a thrilling and innovate collection of electro-pop tracks that show off a whole new side of the girls. Everything from the trippy, electro-funk inspired “Tender Green Life” to the rhythmic “Remember Me” to ’90’s House-throwback “You Got Me” to the ’80’s power-pop empowerment anthem “Dreamsicle” is a joyride from start to finish – The ladies truly brought it, I kid you not!
On Wednesday (October 6), I got the chance to speak with Aubrey and Shannon backstage after their sold-out show at New York City’s Gramercy Theater, where they delivered high-energy performances of every single track off their debut LP. The girls were totally adorable as we talked about everything from the process of creating their sound, touring, doing it all on their own, and what’s next for Dumblonde – Watch it all below!
