The wait is over. Rihanna‘s anticipated eighth studio album finally has a title — it’s called Anti! During a private showcase at the MAMA Gallery in downtown Los Angeles on Wednesday (October 7) night, the 27-year-old #RihannaNavy leader revealed the name and showcased the artwork.
The cover is a childhood photo of the singer on her first day of daycare. She collaborated with artist Roy Nachum, who distorted the image, added a gold crown over her eyes, and painted over in red and white. “I fell in love with it because I felt like there was another spirit, another layer to the art,” Rihanna told the crowd. “This is my favorite album cover I’ve ever done.”
Included is a braille poem, titled ‘If They Let Us,’ written by friend Chloë Mitchell. “The whole idea behind the braille is people who have sight are sometimes the people who are blindest,” Ri added.
During her announcement, Rihanna also said that the album is done, but didn’t announce a release date (of course). This whole #R8 era has been a mysterious joyride from the beginning, but it looks we will be getting Anti by the end of the year. GET PUMPED!
