With Revival just one week away from dropping on October 9th, Selena Gomez has decided to provide us with even more reassuring glimpses into her anticipated fifth studio LP! What a generous queen, no?
This week, our little Disney-princess-gone-badish has thrown “Me & The Rhythm” into the ring as Revival‘s latest pre-order grat track. Unlike “Good For You” and “Same Old Love,” “Me & The Rhythm” – produced by Swedish kings Mattman & Robin – is exactly what one would hope to come from the starlet who brought us countless electro-pop smashes over the past five years, from 2010’s “Naturally” and “A Year Without Rain,” to 2011’s “Love You Like A Love Song,” to the majority of 2013’s Stars Dance. It’s a straight up sugary-sweet, dance pop anthem all about not needing anything but that rhythm. And the production is total euphoric greatness, bringing Kylie Minogue and Sophie Ellis Bextor to mind.
“Yeah all I need/ Is the rhythm, me and the rhythm/ Nothing between/ Yeah the rhythm, me and the rhythm/ And I know, I know, I know, I can’t fight it/ I won’t, I won’t, I won’t, deny it,” she sweetly sings on top of the waves and waves of pulsating synthesizers. “Oh no, oh no, oh no/ I’d be lying/ If I said I didn’t need/ Yeah the rhythm, me and the rhythm.”
The track is exactly what I love hearing from Selena, yet it doesn’t sound like any one song she’s done before. Instead, Selegend updates her dance-pop sound, supplying us with infectious beats and addictive melodies perfectly catered for the dancefloor. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!
