Song of the Week: Lauv ‘Comfortable’

This week’s Song of the Week comes from singer-songwriter-producer Lauv! Following the release of his addictive break up banger “Reforget,” the New York-based pop crooner – who I introduced back in March – has unleashed his Lost In The Light EP, complete with five songs: “The Other,” “Comfortable,” “Adrenaline,” “Reforget” and “Come Back Home.”

All of the songs are varying levels of “great,” but one of them truly sticks out to me — and that’s “Comfortable.”

Like “The Other” and “Reforget” before, the “Comfortable” finds Lauv once again waxing mournfully above a slow-swaggering beat and infectious synths–all while supplying some truly haunting lyricism in the process. “Trying not to sell myself out / I bet that’s what she’s thinking/ That’s when she said, that’s when she said,” he declares defiantly above the marching beat before launching into the earworm of hook: “Do you want it bad? / Do you want it bad? / Do you want it bad? / Yeah, she said/ Baby, do you?/ Or are you just comfortable.”

It’s yet another thrilling offering from the rising star – Get into it!
