Between the addicting “Black Magic” and the break-up banger “Hair,” Little Mix have already given us plenty of reason to believe that their upcoming third studio album, Get Weird, will be just as good as their 2013 criminally underrated sophomore LP Salute. But why stop there?
This week, the girls – Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards – have thrown “Black Magic” follow-up single “Love Me Like You” into the ring as the album’s latest pre-order treat. The track, written alongside Steve Mac, Iain James, James Newman and Camille Purcell, is a Motown-inspired pop dream complete with bright synth pulsations, fantastic classic-sounding melodies, and those oh-so-necessary “sha-la-la-la“‘s.
“Last night I lay in bed so blue/ Cause I realized the truth, they can’t love me like you,” the girls declare on the shimmering hook. “I tried to find somebody new/ Baby they ain’t got a clue, can’t love me like you.”
It may lack the innovation and attitude of some of their previous work, but if you’re looking for sparkling, fresh and sheer bloody fun pop music dressed up with the right kind of 21st century production to hold radio’s attention, then there’s nobody better right now than Little Mix.
This is a major WIN, WIN, WIN – OBSESSED!
“Love Me Like You” will be made available at midnight if you pre-order Get Weird on iTunes!
