Hurts Deliver Dramatic Balladry On Latest ‘Surrender’ Cut ‘Slow’!

Surrender is (thankfully) shaping up to be every bit as good as Hurts‘ stellar (and deeply underappreciated) 2010 debut record Happiness, from their anthemic lead single “Some Kind Of Heaven” to the unapologetically dark “Rolling Stone” to the left-leaning, sweet disco sounds of their Ariel Rechtshaid collaboration, “Lights,” which I’m still not over. Have you seen that video?!?

This week, the British duo are already back at it again with another slice of gloomy melodramatic pop perfectly suited for your Thursday evening in the form of: “Slow,” their latest pre-order grat track from the upcoming LP (due out October 9th). The song relishes in a dark and glitchy chill as we’ve come to expect from them. Yet once the chorus rolls around, it’s clear that the duo’s now taking the drama to an even bigger extreme. “I just wanna love you/ I just wanna hold you close/ What you’re doing here is murder/ When you whip your body slow,” Theo sings on top of the earth-shaking production. It sounds like the world is coming to an end but like in the most beautiful way (does that make sense? no? K). LOVE!
