New York-based singer-songwriter Parson James has become quite the welcomed “One To Watch” this year, having already supplied us with his wickedly powerful debut “Sinner Like You” and his breakout hit with labelmate Kygo “Stole The Show,” But why stop there?
This month, Parson has decided to share the original version of his high-profile collaboration, which has been kept under wraps while the 23-year-old tropical house DJ and producer’s version of the same name has garnered an impressive 214+ million streams worldwide on Spotify, sold more than 1.8 million copies, been certified Double Platinum in Sweden and Norway, Platinum in Denmark and Gold in Finland.
The original version of “Stole The Show” is led by moody, piano chords and atmospheric sounds that only enhance the true magic of the songs E•MO•TION‘s. “This is hands down one of my favorite records that I’ve ever written, and at the time that this remix idea was presented to me it all just fell into place. I absolutely loved what Kygo was doing, and when I heard his version of the song I knew it would be an incredible way to present it in a different light,” Parson told FADER. “The original is so special to me, and it was very important that I got to release it, but I think that the sentiment of the actual song itself resonates in both versions, and I’m ecstatic that it has reached so many people.
