Listen up Mixers, your favorite girls are back! “Black Magic,” the eagerly anticipated new single from Little Mix – Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Jesy Nelson, Jade Thirlwall, and Perrie Edwards – has non-officially made its way online in full a little earlier than expected and no one is complaining.
The strumming power-pop anthem, written by the ladies alongside Ed Drewett, plays like a joyous, shimmering homage to ’80’s synth-pop with its punchy dance beat, infectious melodies, and addictive chanty hook. “Take a sip of my secret potion / I’ll make you fall in love/ For a spell that can’t be broken/ One drop should be enough / Boy you belong to me / I got the recipe/ And it’s called black magic,” the girls declare. It’s certainly a more radio-ready sonic shift for the British quartet, but one that should work out in their favor – Listen below!
“The message of ‘Black Magic‘ is basically that we are the girls with the secret potion, and we’re going to give it to all the other girls that want to get the man they want.” Leigh-Anne explained (via Reveal). “I think the potion is a little connotation for confidence. Just have a little bit of confidence and get your man!”
