Avril Lavinge is slowly making her return to music after announcing an extended break last year due to a Lyme disease diagnosis. The 30-year-old pop starlet has been bedridden for five months in her Ontario home, but thankfully Avril has recently revealed that she is indeed recovering nicely. This week, she makes a brief return with the music video premiere of “Fly,” a super sweet, inspirational power-ballad made in support of the 2015 Special Olympics. “It’s just about inner strength and courage,” Avril said of the song on Good Morning America, which she wrote a few years ago before partnering with the Special Olympics. “This song took on a whole new meaning for me while I was sick, which was pretty magical.”
“I wanted the athletes to be the stars of the video and, just like the message of the song, to show the world that they can overcome the challenges and that everyone is meant to shine,” Avril added. All the net proceeds of “Fly” will go to Special Olympics – Watch the touching visual below!
