Following “What Kind of Man” and “St. Jude,” Florence + the Machine premiere “Ship To Wreck,” the second single to be taken from their forthcoming album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful. The track, which premiered today (April 8) as BBC 1’s Annie Macs Hottest Record in the World, is a bouncy guitar-led number that sees Florence Welch dealing with personal breakdowns and self-doubt. “Did I drink too much? Am I losing touch? Did I build this ship to wreck?” she howls over a upbeat guitar jingle reminiscent of some classic R.E.M. “I was thinking about my own self destructive side, and how you can make something only to tear it down, enjoy/destroy, create/devastate etc.,” Florence expressed in the press release. “When you”re in that whirlwind, you often end up breaking the thing you love the most.” The sonic range we’re getting from Florence this time around continues to impress – How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful can’t come soon enough!
