Sevyn Streeter Readies Debut Album with Chris Brown-Assisted Single, ‘Don’t Kill The Fun’!

Following the 2013 release of her debut Call Me Crazy, But.. EP, which spawned the Chris Brown-assisted hit “It Won’t Stop“, R&B songstress Sevyn Streeter reunites with her musical mentor on her breezy new single entitled, “Don’t Kill The Fun“! The track is set to serve as the lead single off her upcoming full-length debut album, which is due out later this year via CBE and Atlantic Records. Driven by a bass-heavy smooth gliding beat, “Don’t Kill The Fun” is a infectious, feel-good pop number infused with a modern R&B and ’90s House twist. “Lets be undeniable (don’t kill the fun) / If you wanna live it better, live it / Make tonight unforgettable (don’t kill the fun) / and we won’t stop rockin’ till they call the cops,” Sevyn seductively sings on the hook. While undeniably a grower, Sevyn‘s overall unconventional approach to the genre is something you can really appreciate, especially if you grew up in the Y2K era. It’s truly an inspired affair – I diggs! What do you guys think?

“I feel like I finally figured out who the hell I am,” Sevyn told FADER. “In terms of my music, dating, my style, bleaching my hair ice blue. ‘Don’t Kill the Fun’ is the perfect umbrella for everything in my life right now. I had a really good time creating this song, which is a fuse of ’90s house music and today’s trappier, ratchet-y drums. I liked fusing the two and didn’t want to take it too seriously. We take too many things too seriously. We get frustrated with our jobs sometimes, but there’s somebody preying for our jobs, so let’s just enjoy them and have a good time.”
