Following the release of 2012’s Almería, Lifehouse parted ways with their longtime record label Geffen and went on a temporary hiatus. This week, the band make their official return with the premiere of their new single “Flight,” which will serve as the lead single off their upcoming seventh studio album due out early next year. Written by lead singer and frontman Jason Wade, “Flight” is a beautifully soft piano-driven ballad that slowly builds into a empowering anthem that is sure to give you some extra life. Long time fans of Lifehouse will undoubtedly be pleased with “Flight,” its reminiscent of much of their earlier material without sounding too familiar. I’ve always been a fan of the band so I’m enjoying this return to form. Get into it!
“While we wanted a sign language portion to the piece, director Thomas Kirk managed to fit all parts of the puzzle together and help us create this wonderful Hitchcock environment around actress TL Forsberg’s moving yet silent performance…and all in one shot with no edit,” Jason revealed to Yahoo. “I think as a band we’re just tired of looking at dudes who play guitars, so this seemed like the right time to try something different.”
