Fifth Harmony Premiere Their New Single, ‘Sledgehammer’ – Listen!

Fifth HarmonyAfter scoring themselves a solid hit with their sassy girls summer anthem “BO$$,” Fifth Harmony are ready to move onto the next with the premiere of “Sledgehammer“! The track serves as the second official single off their upcoming full-length debut album Reflection, which is due out December 16 via Epic and Syco Records. Premiered exclusively last night (October 23) on San Francisco’s 104.3 FM, “Sledgehammer” sees the girls – Ally Brooke, Camila Cabello, Normani Hamilton, Dinah Hansen, and Lauren Jauregui – ditching the heavy-horns and hand-claps for a true pop stomper! Driven by a smooth gliding electro-pop beat and waves of warm synthesizers, “Sledgehammer” is kind of a return-to-form for 5H, sounding more like an upgraded Better Together EP pop anthem or a more polished and grown “Miss Movin’ On“. I absolutely love it, the chorus is just massive. “If you could take my pulse right now, it would feel just like a sledgehammer.” Get into it!

This song is actually great =) First thing i’ve liked from them.
the synth track and the delicious melody is a fuckin great combo

…but side eye at that “solid hit” comment in response to that Bo$$ single…

Reflection should have been their second single. This is not single material to me. It should have been kept as an album track. Plus, it makes little sense. Their pulse feels like a sledgehammer? So it feels like a long piece of wood with a metal head.. alright.

Really happy with this! Its the first song I liked by them instantly. I also really like that its not so female empowerment heavy. No disrespect but I couldn’t always relate.

    good job!

The single and accompanying images are perfection. I just wish their team would pay attention to live performances.

    Warning: Tangent follows …
After watching footage from their tour, the overall choreography execution is questionable. It does not feel right. We all know they can kill it vocally, solo or group mode but something about Fifth Harmony isn’t quite there yet. Cute and talented, yes, but not performing like the global superstars they are poised to be. Why not cultivate a performance that plays to their strengths like their very first X Factor group audition? They don’t need to mimic the idea of traditional pop star choreography. A reason One Direction was a breath of fresh air: They said no to the cheesy choreography. Why can’t Fifth Harmony take a note from the 1D book? Give them a performance coach and staging rather than a choreographer and tired girl group moves. Let them feel the music, connect with the audience and show off their pipes. Really sing and perform for us. Not worry about dropping their booty to the ground on 4 and having it back up by 8.
