After releasing “Your Love” and “On The Rocks” overseas, Nicole Scherzinger finally returning to the U.S. with lead single “Run“! The track, which made its debut earlier this month, will be featured on her upcoming sophomore solo album Big Fat Lie. It arrives October 20 in the U.K. while the U.S. release date is slated for early 2015 via Epic Records. Produced by Felix Snow, “Run” is a super emotional and heart-breaking ballad that has Nicole pouring her heart out on-top of dramatic strings and a soft piano melody. While the song is certainly the best vocal performance we’ve heard from her in some time, it’s undeniably a risk for Scherzy to release a raw number like this considering she rarely gets the recognition she deserves. With that said, you can never really predict how songs like these can take off. Artists like John Legend, Sam Smith, Rihanna, Adele, Miley Cyrus, and more have all been able to do with their raw ballads. So why can’t The Scherz? I guess we will just have to wait and see. What do you guys think?
“I’ve battled a lot of issues and demons, as we all do growing up,” Nicole said in the press release. “But I finally feel confident in my own skin, and so I’m open enough to talk about love, insecurities, relationships, my sensual side. I’ve found my own musical soundtrack to my soul.”
