Charli XCX Channels Her Inner Mean Girl for ‘Break the Rules’ Music Video!

Following its debut last week, Charli XCX premieres the music video for her brand-new song “Break the Rules“! The track serves as the official lead single off her upcoming sophomore album Sucker, which is scheduled to be released on October 21 via Neon Gold and Atlantic Records. Playing off the song’s lyrical narrative, the clip sees Charli playing the leader of a rebellious high school crew who are breaking all the rules and having fun, from the school bus, to the lingerie store, to ending up at their very own messy prom. “I was inspired by movies like Jawbreaker and Carrie for the ‘Break the Rules‘ video. I never went to prom when I was at school so this was kind of me living out my weird fantasy of what prom would be like in my head,” Charli said in the press release. “I asked Rose McGowan to be in the video and I never ever thought she would say yes, but she did… so she came to prom too… And she trashed it ;)” The ’90′s teen comedy angle payed off wonderfully – It’s right on the money. Go Charli!

She looks great, I like her style and energy, but how old is she, 22? I just wish she would inspire our teenagers, and not send bad messages to them. I am a substitute teacher, and their attitudes and behaviors about school, are often negative. We really need to encourage the next generation. With that being said I love “Boom Clap!”
