Labrinth Returns with Dope New Single, ‘Let It Be’ – Listen Now!

It’s been a little over a year since we last heard from Labrinth, when he was taking over the charts worldwide with his Emeli Sandé-assisted hit “Beneath Your Beautiful.” Since then, the English singer-songwriter-producer has kept busy prepping the follow-up to his 2012 debut Electronic Earth, and now, here we have “Let It Be,” the official lead single from his anticipated sophomore LP. The track is a genre-bending pop cut that sees Labrinth delivering a whole new spacey, retro and soul inspired sound that we haven’t heard from him before. It certainly doesn’t hit you at first, but after a listen or two there’s undeniably something infectious and innovative about “Let It Be.” I think it’s dope and I’m totally here for it.

“I had so much fun making all the music and then I was f**king s**t scared. I basically made what I wanted to hear and basically made the album I wanted to make, but I don’t know how the world is going to view it,” Labrinth told DigitalSpy about the new record. “It doesn’t sound like anything I’ve done before. It made me go back and look at all the other records again and be like, ‘Ah, maybe it needs to sound more exciting? Maybe it’s not poppy enough? Or commercial enough.’ I had a bit of an anxiety attack, but after that I was just like, the only answer is to do what is right – just let go and let everything happen the way it is going to happen. That is where the record kind of came from.”

Labrinth will release his new single “Let It Be” in the UK on September 28!

  1. Like it, but I don’t like the squeaky voice thing, it drags the song down. However, I love his soulful voice.

It won’t be a commercial pop hit, but if he can do something huge and unique with the music video, he may have some moderate success against the rap and popular pop singles, out there

  2. It’s VEERRRRRY theatrical.

  3. Totally Dope 🙂 Congrats, Labrinth, on maintaining artistic integrity while crafting something for the masses. This track has emotion, passion, and actual music(!). Thanks for posting 🙂
