After many delays and set-backs, X Factor UK alum Amelia Lily finally returns with her new single titled “California“! The track comes with the news that the 19-year-old English singer has signed a new record deal with East West Records, which is an imprint of Warner Music. The new deal comes after she separated from her original home of RCA following the release of singles: “You Bring Me Joy,” “Shut Up (and Give Me Whatever You Got)” and “Party Over“. “Life has never been so exciting – I’ve been busy in the studio writing and recording songs for my upcoming debut album and ‘California‘ is where we start,” Amelia said in a statement. “I’m so proud to be releasing this music. I have put my heart and soul into writing them. Expect a few surprises along the way though – it’s going to be fun!” Co-written and produced along with Tim Woodcock, “California” is a light and fun pop ditty driven by a sparkling syths, a cool striding beat, and infectious guitar strums. “Because you’re in Califor-ni-a and I’m in London cit-ay, tell me what I’ve done, done, done, to deserve this, oh,” Amelia belts on repeat in the insanely catchy chorus. It isn’t necessarily the best thing she’s released but it certainly is a step in the right direction. I’m looking forward to hearing more. What do you guys think?
Amelia Lily will release her new single “California” in the UK on August 24!
