Lana Del Rey Debuts ‘Shades of Cool’ from ‘Ultraviolence’!

With the release of her new album quickly approaching, Lana Del Rey debuts another glorious new track off the album titled “Shades of Cool“! The song premiered over the Memorial Day weekend as a promo single when you pre-order Ultraviolence (on iTunes), which hits stores on June 16 via Interscope Records. Co-penned by Born To Die collaborator Rick Nowels and produced by The Black Keys’ Dan Auerbach, “Shades of Cool” mimics the same chilled-out aesthetic as lead single “West Coast” with its gloomy, jazzy sound and big soaring chorus. As my bestie MuuMuse mentioned, the song plays out like dreamy Bond theme but with Lana‘s signature stamp of distant coo’s and swirling strings all over it. Only Lana would be able to pull this off – I love it! What do you guys think?

  4. […] and a stunning strings build-up. The song has more in common with the dreamy balladry of “Shades of Cool” than lead single “West Coast” but nonetheless, it’s another solid number […]
