First Listen: The Saturdays ‘Gentleman’

The Saturdays new single “Gentleman” wasn’t set to premiere until tomorrow (May 9) but surprise – It has found its way to us today! The track serves as the second official single off their upcoming fourth studio album, set to be released in the UK this Summer. “Gentleman” sees the departure of the dance-pop sound the girls have been riding with for the last couple singles and sees The Sats embrace something different. The good news is that “Gentleman” definitely has promise,  its fun and has a Girls Aloud Biology-era vibe to it which I’m totally here for – that was a legendary era. On the other hand, it does sound a little dated and will most likely only find success in the UK. What do you guys think?

wow this sucks soooo bad, what the hell is this they used an old demo from 2002?
cringeworthy lyrics and the production is….tame

  • Idolized101

I actually really love it. I feel like I am out #’ed. The lyrics are great. And so true. I think they are amazing. More more.

#A gentleman is so 1995, so hard for a girl to find
A real husband so 1999, so hard for a girl to find
Cos most dudes just hit it then quit it, and then they wonder why most girls just spit it!

  • Charlotte

Little bit cringey that they’re singing in dodgy american accents, did they forget they were british? I guess its an attempt to appeal to the american market, but I can’t see it going down too well. I can totally see this being terrible when performed live aswell, it’s a real shame I love these girls.:/

  • Glitch

@ Charlotte word on the street is that’ve been dropped by the US label so the american accent attempt seems dumb…maybe they recorded it when they still thought their E-show would be successful?

  • Ike

I want to love it, I do. Am I missing something though? I don’t really understand the lyrics and a gentleman being so 1995, yada yada. I don’t really see this song doing anything, but that’s okay, they’re still cool.

Oh my Saturday’s what have you done?
What About Us was so brilliant, Notorious, All Fired Up, 30 days all good.
This is dross however. I never thought I would wish the girls bad, but I hope this flops big time as a lesson to them… :o(

This song represents all that is wrong with song writing. Please, just put the rhyming dictionary away and make it come from the heart!
