Girls’ Generation Make Fierce Comeback with ‘I Got A Boy’

While I was sick with the flu not a whole lot happened but I’m glad to be back. I’m also thrilled to see the return of the legendary Girls’ Generation. It’s been awhile since the Korean girl group made a splash at the end of 2011 with their fantastic global release of The Boys and now they’re making their grand comeback with a brand new album, I Got A Boy. Since it’s release on January 1, title track and lead single “I Got Boy” has garnered tons of critical praise and its equally amazing accompanying music video has reached over 24 million hits on YouTube. So what’s all the fuss about it? For starters, “I Got a Boy” is more like ten songs jammed into a single production, shifting through genres at the blink of an eye – R&B, hip-hop, pop, rap, electro – you name it, it’s probably in this song. Second, the flashy music video is every pop fans dream including flirty camera play, tight choreography, vibrant sets, and fashion for days. While the video and song may be much to process all at once, there’s no doubt that “I Got A Boy” is one of the most-forward thinking lead pop singles I’ve heard in a longtime. The bar has been set impossibly high for every other pop act this year.
