Dawn Richard: ’86’

Yesterday, former Danity Kane and Dirty Money member Dawn Richard premiered her brand-new single “’86,” the first single off her full-length debut GoldenHeart, the first in a trilogy, due out October 16. After the release of her successful digital EP, Armor On, Dawn is finally ready to release a full body of work. Produced by Druski, “’86” is a synth-driven 80’s inspired ballad that is sonically different from anything we’ve heard on Armor On. I’ll be the first to admit that I wasn’t on Dawn‘s team after the whole DK break-up but the chick has been hustling and pouring out great material ever since. “’86” is simply refreshing and impressive. Bring on GoldenHeart mama! What do you guys think?

DK fans won’t like this because it’s not overproduced shit-pop, it’s real music with depth and meaning… I think it’s awesome.

This song is so much better than almost every song on the radio right now. I’m not even mad at people who don’t like it, they simply have bad taste and clearly don’t hear the 80’s prince influences throughout this. You don’t have to be a “hater” to have bad taste in music 😉

Wasn’t a huge fan of her in DK but she can sing. This song is different, I like it.

PLEASE GET US SHANNON BEX’S EP, you have Aubrey and Dawn, we need Shannon too haha.

What do you mean she can’t sing? The girl can sing. And she can write. This song isn’t my cup of tea, but I can’t deny that it’s a beautiful song.
