Nelly Furtado: ‘Spirit Indestructible’

Check out the premiere of Nelly Furtado‘s latest video for “Spirit Indestructible!” The track serves as the second official single off her fifth studio album, The Spirit Indestructible, due out September 18. The video sees the 33-year-old Canadian singer dancing around a bonfire and walking with some tribal drummers and a large body of water in the background like the nature goddess that she is. Nelly‘s singles may not be making any noise on any official charts but I’m loving all the visuals she has poured out for this era. What do you guys think?

This is no Maneater/Say it Right. Sadly the journey she is taking us on feels like one no-1 cared to travel on in 2012. Maybe as an artist she felt like she was pasted the feelings of the last album but maybe she should have milked it for at least one more album. 🙁 looks like this might be Nellys “Bionic” eeek!.

*sidenote: music video looks hott. but doesnt make me want to like the song anymore. next please.

I love Nelly to death! But her vocals sound really badly composed. We all know she’s a nasally singer but in her past 3 English albums she did a great job of using that to her advantage. In this song & “Big Hoops” her vocals sound awful. The lyrics are great but I don’t know how I feel about the composition. xoxo

The song builds and delivers, the breakdown is dope, and the lyrics are extremely powerful. Lovin this one!

Also, people who only like pitbull/guetta/calvin harris repetition probably wouldn’t get Big Hoops because they are drones when it comes to identifying good music. Spirit Indestructible is gonna be sick!

The beat, the breakdown is amazing. Unfortunately, everyone is right. Her voice sounds like shit. I TRY to like it but it’s just too fucking squeaky.

If you watch the LIVE performence she did of this song, she sounds AMAZING and not nasaly at all (searh it on YouTube). She has an amazing voice. The producer of this song and Big Hoops edited her voice so much and I really find that so annoying when she has a beautiful voice.

Didn’t like the song too much at first, but it’s grown on me a lot… I think it’s the beginning, it just throws the song off before the beat comes in. The second half though, is great!

She does sound a bit nasally…

I don’t understand all the HATE!!! This song is AMAZING!! Sorry it’s not another cookie cutter Pitbull/ Flo Rida / Tired dance track like the rest of pop music right now! I’m sure this album will be awesome but won’t sell well because people are scared of different!
