Nelly Furtado: ‘Spirit Indestructible’

Check out the premiere of Nelly Furtado‘s latest single “Spirit Indestructible!” The track serves as the second official single off her fifth studio album, The Spirit Indestructible, due out September 18. After “Big Hoops” flopped and turned out to be the comeback single many weren’t expecting, Nelly has decided to move on. Produced by Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins, “Spirit Indestructible” sees the singer stick to the hard drums and thumping jungle beats that were dominant in the production of “Big Hoops.” The track is definitely hot and hits you much faster than its predecessor but I’m not sure if it screams radio hit. What do you guys think?

Nelly has went from bad to worse… wtf is this ???? So disappointing. I used to be a huge fan. This album is written off from my memory already after these singles.

What are you all talking about? THIS SONG IS AMAZING!!! It’s HOT!!!!!! I’m guessing those that are saying it sucks are fans of the typical boring machine-generated dance tracks. I can’t wait for the true high quality version of this!

This is really annoying, because this could be such a huge song. This has so much potential, but the production is a mess. Not because the beats aren’t hot, but because it’s a mess, it goes from one thing to another to another to another, but nothing has a climax or immediacy to it. The choruses should have been powerful in a song like this. And that guitar-chorus is the strongest part of the song? Why not have that throughout, over the beats? And add some strings to provide an ‘epic’ feel to it. IMO this song could have been really huge.

I think in this day and age people expect hard hitting clubey-dance tracks. After all, some “artists” today are famous for putting out crap.
Nelly Furtado existed before her “Loose” album and her albums before that were much different than the mainstream music that existed back then. Is this song radio-friendly? Who knows, but Ms. Furtdado dares to be different and I can appreciate her courage in putting out some funky tunes that some people just aren’t used to. Props to her! This song isnt so bad really, its great for just dancing or chillaxing. Can’t wait to see what else she puts out 🙂

I don’t like it. I haven’t liked anything I’ve heard from her recently. I think she should stick with working with Timbo and Missy. “Loose” was clearly her most successful album so why the hell wouldn’t she continue doing that kind of music if it’s what is successful for her? I don’t think anyone should work with Rodney Jerkins after how he fucked Brandy over with her last album. Just sayin’.

True artists release music that sounds the way they want it to sound, not whatever everybody else’s songs sound like just to make it a hit.

I actually like Big Hoops. It’s a grower and it’s playing a fair amount here in South Africa.

I don’t know where all the negativity came from, but I think this is a great song! Definitely not what I was expecting after reading the comments. She always manage to come back with new materials but still sounding good on them
