Katy Perry: ‘Wide Awake’ Video Premiere!

Check out the premiere of Katy Perry‘s latest video for “Wide Awake“! The track is the second taken from the re-release of her third studio album, Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection, and will be the final single from Teenage Dream. The music video was directed by Tony T. Datis and Lance Drake and is being used as a tie-in promotion for her 3D documentary-concert, Katy Perry: Part of Me, hitting theaters on July 5. The clip tells the story of all the different obstacles Katy has had to face in her career through a fantasy dream. I like to pick on Katy a lot (she’s an easy target), but even I have to give credit when credit is due. The video is visually appealing, tells a story, and fits the song quite nicely. What do you guys think? (Updated: Vevo HD)

I think this is my favorite music video from her. I almost thought she cheaped out and only did that Lyrical video. Thank God!

At first I thought, “oh no! another green screen cheesy story line music video.” After watching, I was surprised at how moved I was. It reminds us to be careful of the battles we choose to fight because in some cases we can’t win where as others we may execute and deliver by staying true to ourselves. The comparison of innocence with guilt through the adult and child really had a strong symbolic value in the production. WELL DONE KATY!

Something about this music video is off. The opening of this music video is a rip off of Evanescence’s Everybody’s Fool. The middle is a rip off of Jim Henson’s The Labyrinth!

This gave me goosebumps. Is it my favorite song of hers? No. However, this video MORE than makes up for it. All the symbolism of what has happened in her life since “California Girls” was released was amazing that she put in here. So good. Not my fav song, but gosh this video was very creative and good. 🙂
