Nicki Minaj is out to please everyone with her new single “Starships!” The track serves as the first mainstream single from her sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, due out April 3. The upbeat party anthem was produced by RedOne and was written by Carl Falk, Rami Yacoub and Wayne Hector. Out of all the promo singles she has released so far, “Starships” is the only track I see doing well. A fun and great recovery after the mess that was her Grammy performance. What do you guys think?
“‘Starships‘ is one of my absolute, absolute favorite records on Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded,” Nicki told Ryan Seacrest this morning. “It makes people feel happy and that’s all I want. I want to start the year off with making people feel good.”

too safe and too modern ‘pop’ for me. i really wish she’d release a single where she’s rapping, and not with the skitzo voices she uses today. most of her fans fell in love with her through the song ‘Itty Bitty Piggy’, and it’d be nice for her to at least go back to that style again.

@BOOGIE
Oh shut don’t get all “omg I’m a true fan & she’s changed.” Bull!
She hasn’t changed shes just dipping her toes into new material & just trying to have fun with it, shes not being safe. Safe, would be her releasing a meaningless song with a generic beat.
I think this song is amazing & has a dope ass beat, it’s fun, it’s happy & it’s gonna be a hit. Deal with it.

FINALLY, a great Nicki Minaj song from the sophomore album. I am thoroughly impressed with this, and SO PLEASED she can still have good music. I see this going #1. RedOne has produced yet another flawless dance pop track.

Why do americans hate her grammy performance so much? Because she was the devil? pff… We damn loved it in Europe!

…so Nicki Minaj thinks she’s Katie Perry now? -__- The stuff she’s releasing is telling me she no longer wants to be a serious rapper.

Instead of basing everything you think about an artist off of their music – how about you actually read their interviews and get a perspective of what is they are trying to do with their music. She clearly explained herself and this song on her ryan seacrest interview.

she’s also said (in an interview for Allure magazine with reference to Jay-Z) and I quote ‘Yeah, I’m coming for you. I’m coming for your spot, Mr. Mogul.’ This would make me think she wants to build a rap/hiphop empire like he has…or maybe she’s just confused.

the music is everything. I can tell you that I’m the next Whitney with a little bit of Beyonce thrown in and that I am making music to end world hunger, but if I then releasing some Cheetah Girls ish…the proof is in the pudding son.

I think it’s decent. I’m not really excited about her sophomore album if I’m being honest. She’s not giving me anything to jump up and down about right now.
