B.o.B: ‘Play The Guitar’ Featuring André 3000

B.o.B is onto the next with the release of brand-new track “Play The Guitar” featuring André 3000. The track serves as the second official single from his sophomore album Strange Clouds due out in March. The Salaam Remi-produced number is a change of pace from its predecessor but B.o.B is definitely out-shined by André. What I can appreciate about B.o.B is that all his singles sound different from each other. I’m not sure if he has a mainstream hit with this one though. What do you guys think?

B.O.B’s second official single has finally been released. When we first heard his first single ‘Strange Clouds’, we wondered why BOB had ditched his more mainstream-pop sound and tried squeezing in with the already crowded rap circle. We were hoping this was just an experimental phase and that it didn’t indicate the entire direction of the new album. However, this bad news has turned out to be true with BOB’s second single also trying to break new ground and earn himself some street cred on the hip-hop stage.

But he ain’t fooling noone, this new music just sounds like utter rubbish. Ok, i admit Strange Clouds was okay, but nowhere near the BOB we fell in love with on his debut album! What happened to songs like Airplanes and Nothin’ On You??!? Yes, i appreciate him trying to build new ground and not be like typical artists who release the same old recycled rubbish, but at the same time, he can’t just completely tarnish his trademark and ditch it for something he thinks is ‘cooler’. He almost sounds like a young virgin having sex for the first time – scared, nervous and just plain awkward. This ain’t gonna earn him a Billboard hit that’s for sure. We loved him for him, why is he trying to be something he’s not? Anyways, check out the song below. P.S. Andre rapes his ass big time!
